Prep for Upcoming Weather Change

With the bitter cold expected to setlle in for an extended period of time, it is important to prepare against frozen pipes.  Here are some steps to help prepare...

* Cover or insulate all exposed pipes, outdoor spigots, and crawl spaces.

* Check to make sure your lid is covered on your meter can and it is a good idea to insulate your meter with insulation or a blanket.

* Seal drafts around doors, windows, and where pipes enter the house.

* If leaving town, set your thermostat no lower than 55 degrees.  Also, advise a neighbor or call the office and let us know.  We can check your meter after it has thawed for unusual high usage.

* Once the bitter cold is here let faucets stream slowly, especially on exterior walls.  Open cabinet doors under sinks to allow warm air to circulate.

Again, please take these precautions and be proactive against frozen water pipes.

Stay safe & warm!
